"Cosmic Censorship in AdS/CFT"

to be presented by Dr. Pablo Diaz Benito (University of the Witwatersrand)

Abstract: The Cosmic Censorship, about the impossibility of naked singularities at the end of a gravitational collapse with reasonable initial conditions, was proposed by Penrose in the 70's and remains an open question. Despite the efforts, there is neither a proof of the conjecture nor a successful counterexample to date. The use of the (also conjectured) AdS/CFT correspondence opens a way of translating the (slightly modified) problem into a far-from-equilibrium process in a QFT. We construct some specific models of gravitational collapse using just pure gravity for which the dual Field Theory is well understood and
can be tackled analytically.
